Zhone

Zhone Technologies is a global provider of advanced telecommunication equipment to more than 600 operators in both emerging and established markets.

Zhone's market leading MALC Broadband Loop Carrier (MALC) equipment enables operators to rapidly deploy revenue-generating access services using their existing infrastructure, while providing a migration path to cost-efficient, all IP access network. The company's products address a full range of applications including residential and business broadband, VoIP, IPTV, and Ethernet over both copper and fiber access lines.

By utilizing Ethernet and IP technology, Zhone's products simplify network operations by consolidating multiple services onto a single access line. This convergence of services and networks simplifies provisioning and operations, enhances quality and reliability, and opens the door for delivering exciting new services.

SOLUTIONS

Metro Wi-Fi

Seeking to revitalize the viability of metro Wi-Fi networks for commercial, municipal and public-safety applications, Zhone has developed SkyZhone.

SkyZhone greatly increases overall network capacity, RF coverage and network reliability when compared to the traditional solutions used in many of the first outdoor Wi-Fi projects. The system enhances the economics of metro Wi-Fi networks by giving network engineers the ability to leverage existing network backhaul facilities and greatly expanding the locations feasible for radio placement.

Business Broadband

Today's businesses rely on speed and connectivity for their success. To satisfy business customer needs, an access system must be capable or delivering a variety of broadband options for whatever type of service the business customer requires of a service provider. Large business needs may be different from a small business. So, too, are the applications, ranging from PBX broadband connections to Internet data. Unlike residential broadband, business may also want more than 'best efforts', requiring a service provider to offer a guaranteed amount of bandwidth. VLAN and QoS are fully supported in MXK and MALC and allow providers to deliver business customers broadband services with SLAs.

Ethernet over Copper/EFM

Ethernet over Copper is used in carrier networks for business services ranging from T1/E1 to SHDSL and DS3 rates. It has strong popularity for cellular backhaul from remote cell sites to central switching centers. And it is often used by local and municipal agencies for such applications as traffic monitoring, and security or surveillance. Likewise, utilities find it ideal for connecting stations and monitoring sites along a right-of-way.

High Cap T1/E1

Service Providers continue to have strong business demand for Hi-Cap services for their Internet /WAN and voice communications. Hi-Cap services are highly profitable services for carriers. T1/E1 Hi-Cap and PRI is the most popular form of business service and used for PBX connectivity or HSIA and WAN data services. Growing numbers of business are turning to SHDSL as a replacement for T1/E1 due to the economics. As more businesses migrate to VoIP, IAD’s are used with T1/E1’s. As business demand grow, service providers are looking for access solutions capable of quickly provisioning services to meet demand.

Mobile TDM & Data Backhaul

Cellular operators are presented with the challenge of delivering ever increasing data-centric applications to mobile handsets and access users while dealing with the constraints of providing those services over leased facilities.

The FiberSLAM 100 family of products is designed to carry today's TDM traffic with day one Ethernet expansion in a single platform that provides wavelength services with multiplexing capability. By merging the optical and aggregation layer, the FS100 products lower capital expenditure and increase manageability for the entire transport delivery solution.
